RECAP OF TESLA’S Q2 2022 PERFORMANCE

Electric-car maker Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) reported second-quarter results yesterday afternoon reporting 42% revenue growth. The company ended Q2 with $18.3 billion of cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities, up from $902 million in the first quarter of 2022.

Profits and cash

The company’s 27% year-over-year increase in vehicle deliveries, the automaker’s net income nearly doubled, increasing from about $1.1 billion in the year-ago quarter to nearly $2.3 billion in the second quarter of 2022. Tesla’s non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) earnings per share jumped 57% year over year to $2.27 — beating the consensus analyst forecast for $1.81. Operating margin improved, increasing from 11% in the year-ago quarter to about 15%.

Perception is reality and the results today are clearly in Tesla’s favor

Tesla is up close 10% on the day, arguably keeping the daily Nasdaq Index positive “wow”. While the company stock currently trades with a P/E of 108 “unheard of during a time of great market valuation corrections” and offers no dividend. Tesla’s stock price clearly demonstrates the company is in control of how the Market works!
